INTERNATIONAL STRATEGY

The main aim of our international strategy is to transfer to our exchange students the knowledge and the experience that our institution has acquired since its creation, more than a hundred years ago. Escola Pia Mataró, offers education to students of all ages: from pre-school education, to post-secondary education, we are location in three different building. That means a total of 2500 students learning in our classes.

In Escola Pia Mataró, we offer the following Vet Education: Development of web applications, Development of multiplatform applications, Administration and finance, Marketing and advertising, and Leadership of physical and sports activities. Our institution decided to bed on this kind of studies not only for the working chances that this kind of specialisation offers but also the influence that it can develop in social change and integration. Our school is one of the 21 schools that form the network Escola Pia de Catalunya, which also holds educational institutions in Cuba, California, Senegal and Paris.

The International Programmes Department of our school has a large experience organizing exchanges with France, Germany, Scotland, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Poland and the USA. We are eager to welcome students from all over the world and we get visitors from the UK, Sweden and Canada every year.

We also have Comenius European partners in Finland, France, Hungary Italy, Netherlands, Poland, UK and the Czeck Republic. We will definitely get advantage from this solid network to find partners. We also collaborate with the other schools of Escola Pia network, therefore we have a dense local network in our own territory, useful to exchange suggestions, support and good practices. During more than 10 years, all these international exchanges have given the chance to create multilingual backgrounds in order to achieve our aim of multilingual school in pre-school education, elementary, secondary and high school education. This is the reason why we think that Erasmus + is a great chance to extend this project of multilingual background in VET Education.

Our strategy is to start managing Erasmus+ international mobilities in order to widen the working experience of our students and staff. We will first start with internships abroad for students and, later, we will includo also staff mobilities, both for training & job shadowing and for teaching in a Higher education institution abroad. We also foresee to cooperate with the Escola Pia network in exchanging good practices in the management of Erasmus+ Higher Education projects, as well as in sharing international reliable partners. Furthermore, we foresee to collaborate with local institutions and organizations, with the aim to have a deeper impact at local level, as well as to foster good bond with the territory and get advantage from our partner's connections and good practices.

IMPACT

Our participation in Erasmus+ Programme will allow us to improve and modernise our institution, according to the five aims of the "Modernisation Agenda":

  • To strength quality though mobility and cross-border co-operation. We want to overthrow unnecessary barriers, showing to our pupils the importance to be communicative in different languages, just because one of our main intentions is to improve the communicative abilities in different languages of our students in the Europen Comission. To achieve this aim, we are committed to the idea of building our budgets seeking a better identification. We care about a careful targeting of spending, including through funding mechanisms linked performance which introduce an element of competition.

  • Offering to our pupils the chance to participate in this European Mobility Programme can be a great opportunity to increase their interest on their studies and qualifications as it will mean for them a European recognition. That's why we also want to raise the attainment rates and to reduce the school drop-out. We are committed to improve the quality and the relevance of higher education in order to prepare our students with the formation that the European job market is demanding nowadays. To achieve this goal described above, we are committed to offering a tailored guidance to the student to inform him about his study choices and answer all his doubts and concerning's about his present and future in order to encourage him in his studies. At the same time we want to develop clear progression routes from vocational and other education types into higher education

  • We also want to take profit from the benefits of ICT's and other new technologies to enrich teaching, improve learning experiences, follow our student's experience abroad, improve cooperation and communication, etc.

We assume that all our aims specified above will establish deep ties with Europe and European educational institutions. All the teachers, students and the staff involved in this project find in this programme an opportunity of future collaboration and cooperation among Europe, in order to improve the quality of our studies and to offer an easier entrance to the European labor market.

GENERAL ORGANISATION

Our school has a Department of International Programmes (DIP) charged of managing students and staff mobility. The chief of this department (who coordinate school-enterprise department) is in charge of the department and the management of Erasmus+ mobilities in our organization.

Regarding organization issues, the DIP works as follows. A Secretary is in charge of all administrative tasks. Depending on the complexity of the mobility project a third person (teacher or administrative staff) might be called in to provide further consulting or help on pedagogical or administrative issues.

The DIP establishes the following decision-making process. First, the DIP drafts a proposal of a mobility project. This project is then passed to the Directive Board for its approval. Once the project is approved, a call for candidates is released in order for students and teachers to be aware of opportunities to be granted.

All communications are operated via e-mail or specific notice boards (inside teacher rooms and classrooms). The DIP has a dedicated public notice board too.
